Burning and buying and downloading and uploading
...it never ends!
I've got boxes!
BOXES!!!
of burned CDs I haven't even heard yet!
I download new copies because
I'm too lazy to dig through the unorganized
mounds of music that threaten to bury me in some
Collyer-esque mishap.(en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coll...ound_dead)
I feel like a rat in hell...who needs 54 albums of Sun-Ra???
30 from Frank Zappa??
The *entire* Orbital repertoire?
10 CDs of Country and Western classics?
18 albums by Donovan?
I mean I like Donovan...occasionally iI actually
listen to his music...but where am I gonna find the time
to listen to 18 solid albums?
Please, don't turn me in to the FBI.
I spend over eight hours a day burning CDs.
My spine and eyes are slowly degrading into jelly.
I've gained 15 pounds in the last eight months and
am forgetting everyday words.
I wake up and the first thing I do is head for the Computer
to see how my downloads are going...the computer hasn't
been off for more than a half hour in many many months!
I'm busy day and night burning CDs so that, if the computer crashes,
I'll still have THE MUSIC...THE MUSIC...THE MUSIC!!!
Writing out the songs alone is arduous and painstaking...to much!
So I print out track listings for CDs...the ink is getting to be as expensive as the CDs and cases! But I can't stop! Seriously, I would have to phisically leave the house to
NOT be online either downloading or making a mixed CD or DATA cd or something!
The 'burner' has been making this funny noise lately and we had to
erase the entire hard drive a few weeks ago because of a virus.
Sometimes I can't wait until they outlaw p2p stuff altogether (ha!)
and I can move on with my life. but then I think about it becomeing
illegal and I start itching to get a few dozen more Gigabytes in before the doors shut forever!
Am I the only one?

Re: File sharing is literally killing me.
Sun, May 18, 2008 - 9:14 AMthe fact that you mention "we" at some point gives me hope--i'm assuming that means you don't live alone.
i find that burning cds unless you're giving the music to someone else is mostly a waste of time--you can get an external hd to backup your data (saves a lot of time and energy/materials.) you might also be "burning out" your burner--i've done that to a few drives.
the things that got me off being on constant download duty are: 1. my gf (now my wife) 2. running out of hd space. -

Oh yeah, and I'm starting to refer to myself as 'we'!!
jk, I have a wife and kids, even, but that doesn't stop me.
:(
I'm bouncing along the top end of my hd space.
Burning cd's and erasing files just to free up
some hd space for the "INCOMING!!!".
I do send data cd loads to a few people though...
so...
theres that.
Anybody want a data cd?
got a poo box?

Re: File sharing is literally killing me.
Mon, June 2, 2008 - 7:31 AMIt's horrible, I just discovered Bit Junkie
so I'm hunting and gathering all the rare
stuff i couldn't find elsewhere.
We're moving in a month or two
so maybe being in an actual city (Austin)
will help me get out more and not
tweek out at the computer all day.
